You have questions, we have answers
We are committed to keeping the lines of communication open and making any changes as seamless and painless as possible for you. In this section, we address some of the most common questions we’ve heard from our customers. Many more questions will be answered over the next several months as we work to bring together these two teams.
Q: When will the merger be complete?
A: The actual transaction closed on July 1. The systems conversion is expected to take place in late August 2020.
Q: What will Covenant Bank be called after the merger?
A: Covenant will assume the C&N name and branding.
Q: When can I expect to receive more specifics about my accounts and Online Banking changing to C&N?
A: You will receive a comprehensive informational welcome book this summer that will explain what you need to know and anything you might need to do during this transition.
Q: Will my deposits be FDIC-insured after the conversion?
A: Yes, C&N is a federally insured institution. Deposits are insured up to $250,000 per depositor, per FDIC-insured bank, per ownership category. For more detailed information, please visit the FDIC's FAQ's here.
Q: What does this mean for me and my banking experience?
A: Covenant Bank offices are open and will continue to operate as usual. This merger, unlike many you read about, is not about shrinking or consolidation. Instead, it’s about growth and positioning the Bank to serve you even better well into the future.
Q: When will I officially become a C&N customer?
A: Covenant Bank legally merged with C&N on July 1. We expect to convert customer accounts on the weekend of August 21st.
Q: Is there anything I need to do right now?
A: No. We will continue to share information as it becomes available and keep you informed by way of mail, email, and our website. You can expect to receive a comprehensive Welcome Book in July that will include the details you’ll need and information about how the transition will benefit you.
Q: Will my account numbers change?
A: No. We’ve recently determined that there are no duplicate account numbers across both banks’ systems, so there will be no need to change account numbers, which is great news!
Q: What should I do if I have questions now?
A: You can visit our Ask Us a Question page here to fill out a question form. You can also connect with your local Covenant Bank expert or branch location.
Q: When will I receive more details about how this merger will affect me, my accounts, and Online Banking?
A: Expect to receive a C&N Welcome Book in July 2020. This comprehensive book will contain detailed information about what you can expect and answers to most commonly asked questions.
Q: Can I continue to use my current Covenant debit card?
A: You can continue to use your Covenant Bank card and existing PIN until Monday, August 24, 2020, at which point all Covenant's existing cards will be deactivated. You will receive a new C&N card to replace your Covenant Bank card on or before Wednesday, August 19, 2020. You may begin activating your card starting Saturday, August 22, 2020.
Q: How should I manage my checks if I am running low or if I will have left over checks after conversion?
A: The good news is that your account numbers will remain the same and therefore you will be able to continue using your current checks. If you need to order checks now, go ahead and do so. Even after conversion, Covenant checks with our routing number will still be valid. Our routing number will automatically convert to C&N after conversion and your checks will process as normal with no disruption to you.
Q: I am currently enrolled in Bill Pay. Will this be affected?
A: No, bill payments will not be affected. The Bill Pay system will be unavailable from 5:00 PM August 21 through August 24 at 9:00 AM as we convert customers to the new system.
Q: Will I need to change my direct deposit or direct payment programs?
A: Once your account has converted over to C&N’s system on August 24, it is recommended that you provide your new routing number to any vendor with which you have set up direct payments or deposits. Our experts will be happy to help you through this process.
Q: Will my existing Online Banking username change?
A: No, you can continue using your existing Online Banking username, even on C&N’s system, after August 24.
Q: Is C&N a member of the AllPoint™ Surcharge-Free ATM Network?
A: Yes, your C&N debit card will now be honored at all 55,000 Allpoint network ATMs worldwide. Allpoint provides you with the freedom to get your cash where you want, when you want, wherever you are—without the ATM fees.
